  1. Very true! We have seen so many examples of rich or very knowledgeable people do not take up Bhakti. So it’s the person’s sincerity, faith and dedication which determines who is a Bhakta.

    1. Yes true! Radhanath Swami Maharaj says somewhere else “We should long for real sincerity. We should pray for real sincerity”. Amazing quote!

  2. thanks for the encouraging words as most of the people in general see their qualification & get discourage because of their sinful life ,impure conscious & step back even before they take first step in devotional life…this quote of maharaj encouraging everyone to be simply sincere & go ahead in spiritual path……thank you very much maharaj. hare krishna.

    1. Very well captured Sumbrahmanya! And that’s the beauty of devotional service that it does not require any kind of qualification, however one should be sincere and serious about the goal.

  3. In another quote Radhanath Swami Maharaj says “We must pray for real sincerity. We must long for real sincerity”. In Bhakti, the only thing that matters is how sincere we are.

  4. In simple and sweet word Radhanath Swami explaining what qualification required for Devotional Service. My Sincere Thank you Radhanath Maharaj.

  5. sincerity means the quality of being free from pretense, deceit, or hypocrisy…

  6. We can see from so many examples in the history that people that were rich (materially) for e.g. Hiranyakashipu, Ravana etc did not take to bhakti of the Lord. In fact they got puffed up and turned away and against the Lord. Whereas people like Sudama, Kolavecha Sridhar were materially impoverished but they were great devotees of the Lord. We also see many examples of great devotees who had immense wealth, power, fame etc – King Prataprudra, King Parikshit. So really Bhakti does not depend on externals, it depends more on our sincerity as Maharaj rightly points out. Thank you.

    1. Amazing references Anand, to substantiate this inspiring wisdom from HH Radhanath Swami. Thank you very much.

    2. Really well said with the examples. Can you please elaborate about Kolavecha Sridhar? I have heard about Sudama, King Parikshit etc but not about him.

    3. Very nice points with proper data points! Lord simply wants our love and that love may be exchanged by people irrespective of their material qualification/disqualification.

  7. Now I got the point……….! Sincerity…. is the key… Thank You Maharaj for this Gem….!

  8. Wow very rightly said! Sincerity, Humility and Determination & Dedication – the four important limbs of Bhakti.

  9. Srinivas rightly said, with simple material qualification RNS holds very high spiritual qualification and people’s trust.

  10. Such hope giving wisdom from HH Radhanath Swami. It is sincerity only that matters the most in Bhakti, which means that one should not worry at all that how rich or poor one is. There are so many different examples of many devotees of different statuses. On one hand we have prosperous kings like Yudhisthir and on other hand we also have poor devotees like Sudama, but both Yushithir and Sudama are dear devotees for the Lord because of their sincerity. Many thanks for publishing this inspiring wisdom.
