  1. Everyone in this world is running after finding true happiness which is not possible unless one understands who he is and what he really wants. It’s just like a musk deer trying to find out the source of musk’s fragrance without realizing that he himself has that source. Similarly, we have the truth residing within ourselves only and we unnecessarily look it out outside.

Thank you very much Radhanath Swami for this wonderful and thought provoking quote.

  2. Real happiness is so much missing today. With so much of technology advancement despite of our cellular phones and our computer technology and our satellite televisions etc. still people are in more anxiety and depression than ever before in history

    1. Very true Jerry. In fact, now people have taken it for granted that whatever way these media and technological advancements are bombarding us, will one day bring true happiness.

  3. Its really a wonderful quote by Radhanath Swami. We need to harmonize our body and mind with soul. Otherwise its like all zeros together. No value. We should add that Number 1, the needs of the soul before all these zeros, then even one zero (the needs of body and mind) is added, it brings immense value, because we have that 1 as priority in our life.

    1. Hmmm, such amazing point made here with this simple example that anyone can understand. And this example really fits the case perfectly as one must make sure that spirituality is prefixed to all the zeroes to make anything worthwhile out of one’s existence.

      1. You are very right Piyush. This simple example is also taken from the teachings of Radhanath Swami.

Like this quote in which he calls for the harmony of body, mind and soul for one to be happy, his instructions/teachings are always life’s big learning lessons.

    2. The problem with devotees is that we have added ‘1’, but have placed all the zeros before that ‘1’. In other words, we haven’t really made bhakti top priority.

Radhanath Swami once made the point that Maya tricks people in general by convincing them not to surrender. And she tricks devotees to postpone surrender.

      1. I agree with you Prabhu. If we are not careful, we think that we are adding zeros after 1, but quickly maya is pushing them back prior to 1. That is to say, we are too much caught up in the routine and taking Krishna or maya for granted. Some times devotees say, “Krishna hai na” and think that all our mistakes or laziness or shortsightedness or whatever weakness, will be taken care by Him.

        1. Once Radhanath Swami Maharaj said that Maya never sleeps and she exactly knows our weaknesses.

    3. Very nicely articulated Raja Shekar. Rather this material world is filled with all the 0s and only Krishna can make it of some value.

  4. Such insping wisdom from HH Radhanath Swami. It is so important to understand this fact today to attain lasting happyness. The problem is that most of us are confused or ignorant about soul then what to speak about harmonizing the body, mind and soul. However, people like HH Radhanath Swami are doing such a noble task by propagating this vital knowledge.

  5. Oh great! Very inspiring quote. Am still eagerly awaiting delivery of my book.

  6. This quote is from the amazon best seller The Journey Within by Radhanath Swami…… I am sure many of you are reading the book right now….and who knows some of you might have already completed a reading. Could you guys share some interesting quotes please?

    1. One quote of “The journey within” book really attracted my attention.

“We are prone to divert our attention to more immediate physical and mental demands. Think of a child whose parents give her adequate clothing but inadequate love. The child looks lovely but lives in misery. Similarly, preoccupied by worldly pursuits, people too often neglect the calling of their own hearts”.

      1. This wisdom is really thought provoking. To some extent many of us seem to be doing something like this with our kids. This kind of thoughts will certainly help at least few parents to be serious about their relationship with children. Thanks for sharing here.

      2. Thanks for sharing the quote! It is really relevant in today’s world. People are so much focussed only on satisfying immediate needs of body and mind that the thought that soul has needs too never occurs.

      3. Thank you. a very nice quote indeed. Often times there is tussle between heart and the head,,, and we fail to make right decisions. Such quotes from saints like Radhanath swami remind us of putting right priority while making choices.

      4. I missed seeing this comment all these days. Very interesting and had holds deep meaning. Awesome analogy.

    2. Page 29, second last para , the word Apparent carries lot of meaning.

” If we fill our mind with the apparent shortcomings of those around us,we will be polluted. Focusing on their good qualities however is enriching.”
