  1. Very true!! Our needs are never ending so that whatever we acquire, we are always dissatisfied. Unless we are happy and satisfied within, no amount of money, name and fame can make us happy.

  2. yeah that’s really cool our demands are unending but what swamiji wants us here to be happy within which is actual happiness

  3. I heard Radhanath Swami elsewhere that ‘The real happiness lies within…and is realized through gratitude and service attitude’.

  4. We want unending /eternal happiness and material possessions can give us only temporary happiness. The true happiness comes when we follow the need of the soul, through love and service.

  5. Positions and possessions are not perfect ingredients for happiness. Even if one has a good car, for example, one will still be miserable if the neighbour has a better car. That is why Radhanath Swami keeps stressing that it is not the external acquisitions that bring true happiness, but when we get closer to our heart. In fact, if you read Radhanath Swami’s autobiography – The Journey Home – you will find how he consistently follows the calling of his heart while rejecting externally attractive objects and situations.

  6. Yes, we call it “Santosh” in hindi, our elders also say the same thing. and Here Radhanath Swami also says the same statement which is so deep. but his statement is connected to Loving Service of God which gives real satisfaction, as can be seen from lives of so many great saintly personalities. and Radhanath Swami is one of them as can be seen from his projects on http://www.richardslavin.com/projects/index.html

  7. The happiness of the heart is more important than the tons of wealth. Thank you very much Maharaj.

  8. This makes so much sense! especially in today’s mateirialistic culture.Thankyou

  9. All the companies out in the world are promising that buying their product will make us happy – this way the consumerism is being propagated.

However none of them really know what real happiness is; else once we buy any of these products, we should be happy – full stop – no more need to shop for happiness. However reality is before the next weekend arrived we have already made a list to and shop – things that promise us happiness! Hey wait a scond, what happened to the happiness from the last buy – it did not last even a week!

Only a advanced Spiritualist who has found and experienced real happiness can make a map and write travel guidelines on how to get there and how to experience it – like Radhanath Swami so brilliantly does in his Autobiography – The Journey Home…

  10. HH Radhanath Swami Maharaj had once remarked in one of his Sunday Feast lectures at RadhaGopinath temple that material opulence in itself can never give us happiness & satisfaction. It only fuels the desire to acquire more & makes our mind even more restless in the process. Real happiness can be attained by feeling grateful for what we have & using it properly in the service of the Lord & His devotees.
